Manchester United have been tipped to sign a new midfielder in 2026 after failing to bring one through the doors at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
Ruben Amorim is expected to lose Casemiro at the end of the 2025-26 Premier League season, with the United midfielder out of contract next summer.
United’s two-man pivot has looked vulnerable this season after Bruno Fernandes dropped into a deeper role and the club are expected to strengthen the midfield further.
Elliot Anderson’s emergence in the England national team and success at Nottingham Forest have made him an eye-catching prospect for clubs in England.
Who should start as striker for Man Utd with Benjamin Sesko injured?
Ben Foster’s reaction to United making a potential move for Anderson spoke volumes after he was asked about his thoughts on the Red Devils reported interest.
“Elliot Anderson would be beautiful,” he said.
What Ben Foster thinks Man Utd target Elliot Anderson is worth in the transfer market amid Nottingham Forest’s valuation
Forest are believed to have valued Anderson at over £100m and the Premier League club have the England midfield tied down to a contract at City Ground until 2029.
Foster used Anderson’s Forest teammate Morgan Gibbs-White as a measuring stick for the value that the United-linked player is worth in the transfer market.
Morgan Gibbs-White was set to sign for Tottenham in the summer after Spurs triggered his £60m release clause, but the deal for the midfielder later collapsed.
Based on Gibbs-White’s price tag – and the sentiments of his co-hosts – Foster believes that Anderson is worth around £70m to £80m for his actual transfer value.
Reacting to Gibbs-White’s price range, he said: “It is, isn’t it?”
“It’s 70, 80million [for Anderson]. It is.”
Gibbs-White’s failed transfer to Premier League side Tottenham would see the 25-year-old England international sign a new contract with Forest back in July.
