Warrington Wolves’ popular utility man brought the curtain down on a superb career at the end of 2025, finishing up having made 359 appearances for The Wire since joining from Salford Red Devils in 2012.
An off-field role at The Halliwell Jones Stadium had been earmarked for him upon his retirement and now, the club have confirmed exactly what that will entail.

It is the club’s crop of younger players, about whom there is much internal and external excitement, who will be getting the benefit of Ratchford’s vast experience in his new role as “transitions coach.”
As the title suggests, the former England international will aid young players in their steps from age-group rugby league into the first team.
He will also be responsible for overseeing loan moves for those players as they continue their development towards being Super League talents for the club.
