Celtic have faced the wrath of supporters once again after releasing an update on their decision to ban the Green Brigade just moments before Scotland’s 2026 World Cup qualifier.
With all eyes on Hampden Park before the famous win for the Tartan Army, a statement was posted on Celtic’s official website, but not released on social media.
In the article, the Hoops have confirmed that this is an “ongoing investigation” before hitting out at the Green Brigade for claiming that the footage in relation to the game against Falkirk on 29 October were minor.
They also defended their decision to impose a six-game ban on the ultras group, saying that it had nothing to do with the protests against the board.
Celtic statement on Green Brigade ban
Any suggestion that this matter is motivated by the club’s reaction to wider protests is completely misleading and disingenuous.
Celtic fans respond to club statement
Any hopes that this incident could be swept under the carpet moments before Scotland vs Denmark were quickly ended as a number of Celtic fans found the statement.
Most notably, the decision to not post the article to social media didn’t sit well with fans, who appear to firmly be in the camp of backing the Green Brigade.
@BrianLanigan11 said: “Not fit for purpose in any shape or form.”
@Ghuntears commented: “A sneaky move by a shower of charlatans.”
The current custodians of Celtic have went to war with people who follow, love, and support the club…
We must stand with our fellow supporters.

@MrMoonMusica wrote: “That’s the end of the gb. Will use the outcome of the meeting to ban them permanently.”
@larryhagman12 added: “The people in charge of the club have never been more disconnected with the fans.”
The contempt the Plc board @CelticFC has for its fans is beyond belief.
The latest statement, and timing of it, is clearly an attempt to deflect from their abysmal performance as we approach Fridays AGM.
I, for one, stand with the Green Brigade @NCCeltic .
Back the banned fans.

Safety Advisory Group organise meeting to discuss Green Brigade ban
The main body of the statement focused on the news that a meeting will take place on Thursday 20 November with the Safety Advisory Group for Glasgow City Council to discuss the recent events.
They added that the club have not organised the meeting themselves, but will be attending, but there is no guarantee that the Green Brigade can attend following a request of their own.
It said: “The Safety Advisory Group is comprised of a number of public authorities and emergency services and is responsible for advising Glasgow City Council on the issuing of safety certificates at Celtic Park, and other grounds.

“The Safety Advisory Group is an independent body, the meeting is not called by Celtic, but is one that we, as the organisation responsible for safety and security matters relating to our safety certificate, are required to attend.
“The Green Brigade requested representation at the meeting of the SAG. The Club has been called to the meeting and cannot determine participants. Notwithstanding this, the request has been passed to the Safety Advisory Group.”
