Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has said ‘that’s it’ as he confirmed he has filmed his final scenes after almost 11 years.

The actor made his debut in the ITV soap towards the end of 2014 in the role of reformed vicar Billy Mayhew. In that time, he has seen his fair share of drama on the cobbles – particularly when it comes to matters of the heart.

But Billy eventually fell in love and settled down with Paul Foreman, before his heartbreaking Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis and eventual death.

While Billy is moving on with his life on the cobbles, it was revealed earlier this year that Daniel would be bowing out of the long-running show, after celebrating a decade in the role of Billy last December.

Daniel said in a statement in May: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.

“I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.

“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

Following his statement, show bosses confirmed that the character will be “tested in ways he never imagined” over the coming months, which will ultimately lead to his exit in 2026 a top-secret story.

Daniel shared a final photo from his last day on the Corrie set

With Corrie filming up to ten weeks in advance, it was on Tuesday (November 18) that Daniel confirmed he’d finished filming at the Trafford-based set for the last time.

Sharing a selfie from the corridors of the Corrie building, a stone’s throw from Salford’s MediaCity, the soap star wrote on Instagram: “That’s it. Last scene filmed. Bye bye @coronationstreet. Bye bye Billy.

The last 11 years have gone by in a blink. I’ve adored every moment of being part of this special family. I can’t thank @itv and all at Corrie enough. It’s been a ride. I adore you all.”

Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, was quick to respond as she said: “We will miss you so much! We love you loads”.

Abi Webster star Sally Carman-Duttine also supported: “We will miss you lovely man. Now go get ‘em!”

Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster in the ITV soap, gushed: “Love you! Will miss you so much!” Kirk Sutherland legend Andy Whyment added: “You’re gonna be missed Dan, I’m sure you’re going to get loads of work.”
