Meghan Markle released a new product for her lifestyle brand, As Ever, as she gave a rare glimpse into her private life with Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. In a new newsletter sent to her As Ever followers on Tuesday night, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that what appeared to be the lavender fields around her Montecito home during promo photographs all year round were actually flowering sage, which she has now turned into sage honey, just in time for the festive period.
Her team said sage is one of Meghan’s favourite herbs and revealed the Sussex family would regularly take walks around the fields, which were made even more “magical” by the presence of the flowering plant.
The newsletter read: “When it comes to our founder’s favourites, the delicate, herbaceous flavour of sage ranks high on the list.
“Why, you ask? Well, those photos you’ve seen this year on our Instagram of Meghan walking through what seems like lavender, with its gorgeous purple hue, actually share the beauty of flowering sage (Fun fact: the varietal is called Santa Barbara).”
It added: “Those strolls, with Archie and Lili running in tow, her husband checking on the bees, Pula chasing the ball with Mia trying to keep up—those were the sun-drenched moments that made an everyday walk something a bit more magical.
“And that sage, that purple, that scent around the garden, was always there in the background.”
Meghan’s team said the Duchess started drying all the different types of sage she was growing and using it in gifts, cooking, and infusing it into oils, with her latest attempt being As Ever’s sage-infused honey.
The product, which is now available to purchase for £24 on As Ever’s website, is described: “Minimally processed to retain its delicate sage blossom notes and natural sweetness, this is our most epicurean honey—its earthy, grounding flavor lends itself beautifully to savory dishes, while its gentle sweetness adds an elegant and elevated touch to desserts and light bites.
“Reminiscent of warm days spent tending to the abundant varieties of sage growing in her own garden, this honey holds a special place in Meghan’s heart.”
It also contains raw edible honeycomb.
Meghan announced her new product on her brand’s Instagram page, which included a video of the Duchess donning a burgundy silk dress, drizzling sage-honey glaze on a turkey.
