All eyes were on Kate Middleton as she joined Prince William for the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall. The Prince and Princess of Wales put on a display of black tie brilliance as they grace the annual celebration as guests of honour – and the Princess of Wales debuted a new green gown for the occasion.

For her five previous outings at the annual event, Kate has opted for a mix of tried-and-tested labels (Jenny Packham, Alexander McQueen), reworn favourites (including a sequinned spectacle from a royal tour) and new, custom creations (see: the 2023 outing in Safiyaa). It is the first black tie outing for the royal couple in a number of months, so royal watchers were eagerly waiting to see if Kate Middleton would use it as an opportunity to debut a new, show-stopping look.

And she did not disappoint. The Princess of Wales looked resplendent in the green velvet creation, which is believed to be by German designer Talbot Runhof. She accessorised the look with the glittering Greville Chandelier Earrings and the Queen Mary Choker Bracelet.

The Royal Variety Performance takes place every year, either in London or in a theatre around the United Kingdom. The Royal Variety Charity assists those who’ve worked professionally in the entertainment industry and in 2024 the Charity set up a dedicated team to assist those in
entertainment who are in need of help and support because of mental health issues.
