Police have issued a significant update after two men were murdered in a double shooting on a Wolverhampton street.

Duaine Mills, aged 28, and Syed Zain Ali, 32, died after the major incident in Leicester Street at around 3.10am on September 19.

Today, November 20, police now say they have arrested a man on suspicion of the murders.

A 38-year-old man was arrested in the Birmingham area just after 10am today on suspicion of their murders, police said.

A man aged 34 was arrested at the same time on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both remain in custody this afternoon.

Senior investigating officer Jenny Birch said: “These arrests are a significant development in our investigation, and the families of Duane and Syed have been updated.

“Our thoughts remain with them at this time, and we will continue to support them.”

Police continue to appeal for anyone who has information about the murders to get in touch.

The force said: “If you saw or heard anything which could help our investigation, call us on 101 quoting log 358 of 19 September.”
