In a game that was far more comfortable than the final score suggests, Nna Noukeu may as well have been a spectator, with his only real action coming from his own pass being intercepted but thankfully the Sporting forward shot well wide.

Not as attacking as Cirkin on the other side of the pitch but strolled through the game at right back.

A quiet evening for Kindon but was tidy on the ball when we had possession.

Barely had anything to do, other than one sliding tackle where he poked the ball out for a corner. A very quiet game for his comeback.

Has looked more comfortable in each successive game for the under 21s. Barely did any defensive work tonight and spent most of the game getting forward to support attacks. Combined great with Mundle in the first half, continued that with Tutierov after the break and unlucky not to get an assist after picking out Waters twice.

A quietly effective game in midfield, kept the ball ticking well and played a lovely weighted through ball to Waters in the first half but the striker couldn’t quite get a shot off.

Everything went through Middlemas, with the captain causing the Portuguese outfit plenty of problems with his movement and passing. Picked up an assist after his one-two with Mundle.

Looked absolutely electric on his return from injury, with the visitors unable to stop him. Scored one goal, had enough shots to go home with multiple match balls and his only downside was his not converting more of his shots to goals.

A tidy display in the number 10 position, always showing for the ball and using his body well to turn away from the opposition. Came close to scoring after the break when he hooked a shot just wide.

Didn’t look particularly comfortable in the first half, as he was playing on the right to accommodate Mundle. Did have chances to score though, with one in particular needing to be buried after Mundle played him in, could only shoot just wide though. Still caused problems throughout with his directness.

Did well holding the ball up and had a couple of opportunities to score, one being from Cirkin’s cut back that he sent just wide and then another from a dinked Cirkin cross that he headed just over the bar.

Came on at half time with a pre-arranged change for the returning Leo Hjelde and slotted straight in.

Another who came on as part of the half time change and gave the side some direct running on the right wing.

Played a false 9 role when he replaced Waters and was dangerous around the box without any chances falling to him.

Man of the Match: Romaine Mundle

Cirkin and Middlemas also stood out tonight but the man of the match was clearly Romaine Mundle. The winger was playing his first game back after injury but looked very, very sharp at the top end of the pitch. He had numerous chances to score, with the goalkeeper being forced into many saves but finally got the goal – and winner – he deserved after playing a one-two with Middlemas, feinting to shoot and then burying the ball past the goalkeeper. There was some signs of rust, taking so long to get on the score sheet despite Sporting not being able to get near him and then a sloppy pass on the half way line that started a counter for the opposition but a very good night’s work for the winger.
