The Warrington Guardian can reveal that talks have progressed rapidly in recent days, with the Robins reportedly open to allowing the second-rower to leave despite him being under contract for the coming season.

The Wire, who have had a long-standing interest in the player since he first arrived in Super League with Wakefield Trinity, have moved quickly and while it has been stressed the deal is not yet done, there is a growing expectation that the second-rower will be playing his rugby at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in 2026.

Tanginoa’s arrival would be a big boost to Sam Burgess’ pack, with the 31-year-old capable of playing through the middle as well as in the back row.

Tevita Pangai Junior’s u-turn on joining the club left them with salary cap space to use and in Tanginoa, they have identified a player who, while not carrying as much size, is a proven destructive force in Super League.

While Warrington have recruited in the back row by signing James Bentley from Leeds Rhinos and making Sam Stone’s loan move from Salford Red Devils permanent, Tanginoa would no doubt bring an extra attacking dimension to their edge forwards having averaged a try every four games during his time in the UK.

He played 29 times in Rovers’ Treble-winning campaign including an appearance off the bench during their Challenge Cup Final victory over Warrington, although he was left out of Willie Peters’ 18 for their Super League Grand Final win over Wigan Warriors.

In all, he has scored 16 tries in 59 appearances since moving to Sewell Group Craven Park in 2024.

Before then, he touched down 21 times in 88 games for Wakefield having joined them in 2019 following an NRL career that took in spells at Parramatta Eels, North Queensland Cowboys and Manly Sea Eagles.

Tanginoa would be Warrington’s seventh new signing for 2026 after Bentley, Stone, centres Josh Smith and Albert Hopoate and props Liam Byrne and Toafofoa Sipley.
