Mark Guidi labelled the Celtic AGM as ’embarrassing’ amid the fallout from the spectacular scenes at Parkhead.
Peter Lawwell adjourned the meeting early following numerous chants for the board to go during the meeting.
Ross Desmond’s statement was the final straw for those in attendance, and Lawwell decided that the hierarchy could take no more and left without answering any questions face-to-face.
The Celtic board have come off looking worse and journalist Guidi thinks that the statement from Dermot Desmond’s son did no favours at all.
Peter Lawwell on closing the AGM meeting
I am going to have you apologise to those supporters who have the best interests of the club at heart but I am going to have to draw the meeting to a close.
Mark Guidi reacts to Celtic AGM
In the latest episode of the Go Radio Show podcast, Guidi was asked about the astonishing scenes inside Parkhead on Friday night – especially on Desmond’s statement.
He appeared to be on side with the concerns from the Celtic supporters and fears that there is no way back for the hierarchy.
“There’s now a complete breakdown between the Celtic supporters and the Celtic hierarchy,” said Guidi.
“Ross Desmond, Dermot Desmond’s son, took centre stage. He’s not even a director of the club, unless I’ve missed something.
“No, he’s not a director of the club, but he basically took on the role that Michael Nicholson would have today. I thought some of the choice of words that that he used in terms of attacking the Celtic supporters um would be ill-advised, but he wanted to make his point.”
Will there be another Celtic AGM?
After making the decision to adjourn the meeting, Lawwell didn’t comment on whether or not there would be another AGM.
A statement from Celtic said that votes would take place behind closed doors while also offering fans the chance to put questions to the hierarchy online.
Poll: Do you have faith in the Celtic board?
It seems that there won’t be another chance for shareholders to face the current regime face-to-face, which could only anger fans even more down the line.
