Addressing the media yesterday afternoon following the club’s AGM, O’Neill revealed that centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to miss the remainder of the season.
O’Neill additionally provided updates on Callum Osmand and Alistair Johnston, both of whom underwent operations two days after Celtic’s 4–0 win over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park ahead of the international break.
🗣️ “I thought it was a really sad morning… I wonder what Jock Stein would have made of it all.”

Speaking at the Celtic media conference, the Irishman said: “With Alistair Johnston, it’ll be four or five months. Although they had the same operation on the same day, Callum Osmand was worse, believe it or not. He’ll be five months.

“Obviously, Jota is out now. I’ll not see him. I’ll certainly not see any of those boys.”
Forward Kelechi Iheanacho will miss this evening’s Scottish Premiership encounter against St Mirren, and James Forrest is also unavailable.

On a positive note, Marcelo Saracchi has encouraging news after being taken off early during Celtic’s victory over Kilmarnock.
“He will also be out, but he’s getting close again,” revealed O’Neill. “I’m hoping that some of these lads, if they don’t make the Feyenoord game, would at least be available for selection for the Hibs game. Which might not bother me – or it might.”

A victory in Paisley tonight would cut Celtic’s gap to league leaders Hearts to only four points, ahead of Derek McInnes’ side taking on Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow.
Celtic then head out to Rotterdam on Thursday evening to face Feyenoord on matchday five of the Europa League. The Scottish champions must take something from the game if they have any aspirations of reaching the top 24 which would guarantee at least a knockout playoff round in February.
Focusing on more important matters for now, Celtic face tough opposition this evening and will need to be on their game if they are to head back to Glasgow with all three points.
