Conor Benn criticised Devin Haney’s performance after the American beat Brian Norman Jr to become a three-weight world champion in Riyadh on Saturday.
Haney scored a knockdown in round two but was unable to get the stoppage on his welterweight debut.
Benn is plotting a return to welterweight and had said he was keen on fighting the winner of Norman Jr v Haney, but could be seen yawning as he watched from ringside.
“There wasn’t entertainment in there and it’s the entertainment business,” Benn told DAZN.
“I put on fight of the year contenders. He (Haney) puts people to sleep, and not in the ring.”
The judges scored it 114-113, 117-110 and 116-111 in favour of the 27-year-old in Saudi Arabia.
Benn is planning a move back down in weight after jumping up two divisions to beat Chris Eubank Jr earlier this month.
His promoter, Eddie Hearn, agreed with his assessment of Haney.
“Haney is fighting scared. He doesn’t want to engage,” Hearn said.
