Dune spoilers follow.

Jason Momoa has addressed his son’s recent casting in the upcoming Dune 3.

Nakoa-Wolf Momoa will reportedly be playing Leto II, the son of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya). The actor will star opposite Ida Brooke, who will play Leto’s twin sister Ghanima.

Nakoa-Wolf will also be starring alongside his father Jason, who is returning as Duncan Idaho, despite being killed off in the first movie. In Frank Herbert’s Dune books, the character is brought back as an artificially created human, known as a ghola, as a gift to Paul.

Speaking about his son’s acting debut, Jason joked that the teenager is “in for a rude awakening”, before explaining: “He’s into the workforce for the first time.”

“It’s going to be good. He did it on his own,” Jason told Extra at the Chief of War premiere in Kapolei, Hawaii. “I don’t want to help him, and he’s done it all on his own, and good for him.”

The star went on to praise his son’s talent and work ethic, sharing: “You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn’t do what he’s doing at his age.”

“There’s no way I could sit in a room with [Dune 3 director] Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He’s 16 and holding shit down with Denis Villeneuve.”

Jason shares Nakoa-Wolf and daughter Lola Iolani with ex-wife Lisa Bonet. Speaking about his children, he continued: “We raised our children… It’s just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… That is what he is. He’s very confident.”

Earlier this month, Dune fans received an exciting update, confirming that production on the third movie was officially under way. The sci-fi threequel will be adapted from Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah book.

Dune 3 will be released on December 18, 2026. Dune: Part Two is available to buy in the UK from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and more.
