Donald Glover, who portrayed Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, has recently confirmed that he has recovered from recent health issues that caused him to cancel a recent musical tour.

At Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival music festival, Donald Glover explained that he had to unexpectedly suspend his 2024 Childish Gambino tour due to a pair of serious health risks that he had to heal from before he could perform again. Here’s what he had to say in a monologue to his fans:

“I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway. I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’ The first thing I thought was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down…’ They found a hole in my heart. So, I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery. They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You got one life guys, and I gotta be honest, the life I’ve lived with you guys has been such a blessing. I love seeing and performing for you guys.”

Donald Glover had a key role in Solo: A Star Wars Story as a younger version of Lando Calrissian. While there has not been a status update on his Lando Calrissian spin-off project since around the time Glover stopped his music tour, he and his brother have discussed ideas about where the proposed film could go. The Lando Calrissian project initially began life as a limited Disney Plus series, but became a film, and it is still one of several projects that remain in development at Lucasfilm. For now, you can see Glover play Lando in Solo, which is available to watch on physical and digital media, alongside Disney Plus.
