Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd has revealed she’s had her second leg amputation below the knee.
The Irish actress had her right leg amputated, again below the knee, when she was 23 after an injury sustained playing football when she was 15 failed to heal correctly, leading to years of chronic pain and multiple surgeries. But now she’s had the same op on her left.
She shot to fame making TikTok videos talking about her disability and other things, and was later cast in Netflix series The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher despite having no previous acting experience.
Speaking from her parents’ home in a new TikTok video, the 29-year-old shared she had now undergone a second operation. Delivering the announcement in her usual witty style, Ruth said: “Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news.”

Ruth – who goes by the handle ‘ruthcoddsnotdead on TikTok – went on to explain: “Good news – we’ve had a full circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house.
“Bad news – I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs. I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved.”
Though she didn’t share the reason for the second operation, Ruth then showed her followers her new wheelchair, which she joked she liked to call ‘Fat Tony’ and added: “She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved.”
Fans were quick to comment underneath, sharing Ruth’s characteristically sarcastic humour. One joked: “But I was only here for the floral wallpaper!” Another cracked: “Look babes, we all want a second season of Midnight Club – but taking the 2nd leg is a bit far,” to which Ruth replied: “@netflix you see what I mean?”
While Rahul Kohli, Ruth’s co-star in The Fall of the House of Usher, cheekily wrote: “Excuses, excuses.” This prompted Ruth to quip back: “How do I block someone twice?”
Others seemed very confused if they watched without sound, as TikTok’s captions had made it sound like Ruth said her ‘second bologna amputation’ rather than ‘below-knee amputation’.
“Is this a joke?” one TikTok user innocently asked. Another helpfully explained: “She’s saying ‘Below knee amputation’ not ‘Bologna knee amputation’ which it says in the captions – Bologna being a city in Italy.” A third humorously added: “A Bologna amputation is no laughing matter.”
A fourth chimed in: “Ruth you gotta tell us which Paralympic event you’re participating in so we can tune in.” She wittily replied: “Rhythmic gymnastics,” before adding: “Guys stop being nice to me it’s weirding me out.”
Ruth recently appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Traitors and was chosen to be a Faithful. But despite being a fan favourite, she was the third person voted out after being murdered by Traitors Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns in the fourth episode.
