Next store on Island Green Shopping Centre in Wrexham is closing

Retail giant Next are due to close a store on a North Wales shopping park. The chain opened a Next Outlet unit at Island Green Retail Park in Wrexham back in 2023.

This was their second store in the city – with an existing shop in the Eagles Meadow shopping centre.

But on social media Vicky Cossins posted that she was the manager of the Outlet store and confirmed it will “sadly” close in December.

She said: “We have built a dedicated core of regular shoppers, but businesses need passing trade and Wrexham lacks that a lot of the time.

“I am incredibly grateful to all of our shoppers and hope that you will continue to support us in the last few weeks that we remain open. I will announce a closing date once it has been confirmed. Please continue to support all of the shops, bars, restaurants etc in Wrexham, they rely on your custom.” Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox

This post followed an earlier message from a shopper who had said that the store would close.

North Wales Live contacted Next.

They said: “We can confirm that our NEXT Wrexham Outlet store will cease trade on Saturday 20th December.”

The leasing agent for the park was aware of the closure and said they hoped to announce a new tenant for the unit in the near future.

One shopper said: “Such a shame, another great shop closing….and at a difficult time for all of the staff there.”

Another added: “I was sorry to hear that you were closing l have picked up many bargains in store over the years and your staff have been friendly and courteous. Good luck to you all for the future.”
