Arne Engels still continues to divide opinion amongst the Celtic supporters, but his recent performances have suggested that he’s beginning to find the form that persuaded the club to part with a record fee of £11 million for the 22 year old Belgian international midfielder.

More so his after impressive performance in Rotterdam in Thursday night’s 3-1 win over Feyenoord in the Europa League. Arne oozed confidence, and looked much more experienced than his 22 years as he controlled proceedings in the middle of the park alongside Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate as all three produced a sterling performance.

Arne has struggled for a regular spot in the side this season, but under the interim leadership of Martin O’Neill he’s blossomed and produced some impressive performances, not that he always gets credit.

Some supporters seem hell bent on criticising the former Augsburg man, just to justify their continuous doubts they hold over Arne’s ability. But that is unfair on the player who’s contributed massively to the side since his record breaking move last summer, as the stats will show.

Arne deserves great credit, and respect, not constant criticism.
