The British and Irish Lions head to Sydney for the third Test having already wrapped up the series courtesy of a stunning comeback win over Australia in Melbourne. Hugo Keenan’s late try snatched a breath-taking victory for Andy Farrell’s men, predictably sparking wild celebrations at full-time.

Their jubilation unsurprisingly spilled into the away dressing room, contrasting sharply with the air of despondency that hung over the Wallabies.

Australia captain Harry Wilson and Joe Schmidt were both forced to face the press while the visitors belted out ‘Sweet Caroline’ in the room next door, wearing an understandably glum expression as they attempted to pick the bones out of a night that had previously started with so much promise.

Commenting on the defeat as the raucous Lions players sang in the background, Schmidt said: “I didn’t think we were that bad last week. It was three tries each and I thought we really clawed our way back in the game

“This one we really challenged them and we demonstrated that when we built the lead, but they’re a really good side. The experience they had meant they could just stay calm.

“It was a heck of a Test match.”

Other songs to get an airing included Gala’s ‘Freed from Desire’, ‘Dirty Old Town’, ‘Angels’, ‘Whoomp There It Is’ and ‘Rockin’ All Over the World’.

Bundee Aki and Tadhg Furlong were at the heart of the songs gleefully spraying beer and champagne around the changing room in delight, while hooker Ronan Kelleher was treated to a special drenching of his own in the middle of the group.

Many of the players donned garlands of chocolate bar wrappers, which were made and handed out by Sione Tuipulotu’s family, who are based in Melbourne.

Shortly after the dressing room scenes had died down, and once the 90,000 supporters inside the MCG had emptied out, the Lions team then returned back onto the turf to form a circle of chairs in the middle of the pitch.

Renditions of ‘Loch Lomond’, in an apparent tribute to Scottish starters Finn Russell and Huw Jones, could be heard echoing around the stadium while match-winner Keenan even replicated his try-scoring exploits in the corner of the pitch.

The Lions flew to Sydney on Sunday for the final Test this weekend, with the Lions looking to claim a first ever whitewash over the Wallabies.
