Efforts to improve flood prevention in Walton-le-Dale have moved forward as the Environment Agency (EA) officially submitted a planning application for its next project.

The proposed work forms the next phase of the EA’s multi-million-pound Preston & South Ribble Flood Risk Management Scheme and included both new flood defences and improvements to existing ones. The agency’s plan also included an enhanced maintenance programme in Frenchwood.

Subject to planning permission being granted by South Ribble Borough Council, work is due to start around Walton-le-Dale early next year, with completion due in 2027.
