Huge piles of ‘trade waste’ have been dumped in the middle of a country lane in Lancaster.
Pieces of metal, plastic, sheeting and other waste including timber with nails dangerously sticking out were found strewn across Powderhouse Lane earlier this week.
Lancaster City Council said their officers have cleared it away after being notified by members of the public.
It is one of nearly 3,400 fly-tipping incidents reported in the past year costing the local taxpayer £276,927.
An investigation is under way to find those responsible for and the council is appealing for information.
In a statement on Facebook, a spokesperson said: “This mess was dumped right in the middle of the road on Powderhouse Lane in Lancaster.
“Our officers cleared it away after being notified – thank you to those who reported it.

“In the past year, we’ve cleared up 3,394 fly-tipping incidents to the tune of £276,927 to local tax payers.
