Vogue Williams confesses she found herself making apologies to mates and relatives after rumours swirled that she was heading into the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! jungle.

The 40-year-old podcasting sensation was a late arrival on the popular ITV programme alongside Tom Read Wilson.

However, there had been over a month of gossip beforehand with betting firms naming the mother-of-three as a potential contestant.

Vogue made her I’m A Celeb debut with TV figure Tom on November 19, reports the Irish Mirror.

Speaking on the Vogue and Amber podcast she hosts with elder sibling Amber Wilson, Vogue revealed details about the rumour mill before her participation was officially announced.

She revealed: “I cannot tell you. I had a taxi driver stop me and say, ‘I thought you were meant to be in the jungle,’ and I was like, ‘ha ha, ha’.”

She continued: “I’m like a nervous wreck though. I nearly emailed the producer and was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore’. Everyone was asking me about it every turn I took. I’m going to have to stay indoors, it’s too much.”

Vogue explains she ultimately chose to blank any texts from friends and family regarding I’m A Celeb before her announcement as a contestant.

She went on: “Anyone whose message I’ve ignored or Instagrams I’ve ignored, sorry, it’s better I don’t reply to you because I’m not confirmed yet, they said I might be a latecomer.”

Even Tom, best known for his stint on Celebs Go Dating, seemed to avoid fuelling rumours about his time on the show. Vogue revealed it led to an awkward encounter between them before they jetted off to Australia.

She said: “I bumped into Tom Read Wilson who was meant to be coming in with me as a latecomer. I saw him again and said, ‘See you on Sunday Tom,’ with a big wink and he just laughed.”

Upon entering the camp, Vogue, who is wed to ex-Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, confessed: “I always thought I wouldn’t do it, because I’ve gotten too comfortable in my life.

“I like to have eight hours of sleep, I like to eat nice things, I like to just chill out and I never put myself out of my comfort zone. Then when I turned 40, I started to get scared of ridiculous things.

“I didn’t want to be this person. Doing this is such a massive life experience and it is not something you can pay to do.

“So now I am 40, I think it will be pretty cool to do I’m A Celebrity.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is back on ITV One at 9pm. This follows former footballer Alex Scott being the first contestant to be booted off the show.
