Sainsbury’s has made a big change to its Nectar loyalty scheme.

If you find yourself in desperate need of groceries but can’t pop to the shops, you can now order the supermarket essentials you need on Deliveroo, without missing out on points.

Nectar has now been rolled out to the takeaway delivery app to allow members to collect points when they shop with the supermarket on the platform.

When placing an order with participating Sainsbury’s stores, shoppers will now have the option to input the card number registered to their Nectar account at checkout.

You can then earn one Nectar point per £1 on eligible products bought through Deliveroo.

The loyalty scheme is not available through Uber Eats or any other convenience platform yet.

‘This integration is a massive win for our customers, who can now earn points on their Sainsbury’s grocery orders, further establishing Deliveroo as the go-to destination for on-demand convenience and loyalty,’ says Suzy McClintock, vice president of new verticals at Deliveroo.

‘We are delighted to be welcoming Nectar, one of the UK’s most valued and far-reaching loyalty schemes, to Deliveroo,’ she adds.

Nectar now has 24 million members, making it the second-biggest loyalty scheme after Tesco Clubcard, but it’s not the first loyalty scheme to partner with major aggregators.

Co-op began offering in-app Member Prices on Deliveroo, a year after doing so on Uber Eats – a first for a UK supermarket. And Morrisons’ loyalty scheme, More Card, was made available on Deliveroo back in March.

For those who shop at Tesco, they’ve been able to collect Clubcard points on Woosh orders from the start.

Your Nectar Prices

Sainsbury’s made another big change to its Nectar card back in July, announcing more accessible highly personalised Your Nectar Prices.

This offered shoppers discounts on their favourite products, but could only be accessed online or through the Smart Shop app or a self-scanner.

Now, you can access the discounts in-store by swiping your Nectar card at the till, which could save you up to £150 a year.
