2026 will be Lees’ tenth season of First Team service for St.Helens R.F.C., and in recognition of that achievement he has been awarded a Testimonial Year by The RFL.

Saints Testimonials are special to both the Club and the player, as over the year we get to celebrate the commitment and efforts of players who have been with the Saints for a decade. Undoubtedly, one of the main highlights of any Testimonial Year is the match held in their honour, and we are excited to host at our home ground a fixture for Matty Lees.

Since making his Super League debut for the Red V in September 2017, Matty has gone on to establish himself as one of the very best props in the league. Lees is closing in on the 200 milestone for our club, making 194 appearances to date. Our #10 has played his part in the Saints’ Super League title-winning years from 2019 to 2022, with a Challenge Cup in 2021 and World Club Challenge in 2023.

Now an established England international too, he has 12 caps to his name as well, having featured in the Rugby League World Cup in 2022, the series victories over Tonga and Samoa, and the Rugby League Ashes against Australia in 2025.
