Hollywood star Rebel Wilson said she was ‘offered a fortune’ to appear in a Birmingham panto this year.

But due to scheduling conflicts, the actress was unable to commit and said ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t do it’.

The revelation came during an appearance on Capital Breakfast this morning, Tuesday, December 3.

Appearing to promote movie Tinsel Town, which was filmed in Yorkshire, pantomime became the topic of conversation.

She said: “Pantomimes are huge here. What I learnt from doing the movie is a lot of these, especially the regional ones, they make so much money that they keep the theatres open the whole year because the other shows don’t do as well.”

After presenter Jordan North responded that pantomimes ‘pay the big bucks’ to hire big names, Wilson revealed she was approached for a pantomime performance.

She said: “Let’s just give it away. It was Birmingham.”

Although Wilson didn’t disclose what the role was, or the theatre company, the actress said she was offered ‘a fortune’.

Rebel added: “They did offer a fortune, and to the people of Birmingham, I’m sorry I couldn’t do it but I’m directing a big Hollywood movie right now.”

“It’s alright they’ve got Alison Hammond. She’s buzzing,” responded presenter Sian Welby.
