20-22 Mill Street, opposite a Travelodge Hotel, dates back to the 1870s and is Grade II listed.
Although the upper floors have been converted into flats, the ground floor and basement space has been empty for a number of years – having previously been used as a café.
New doctor’s surgery approved
Mill Street Asset Management Limited recently submitted a planning application to Bradford Council for the change of use of this unused space to a private doctor’s surgery.
There had been just one public response to the application – asking what services will be offered by the new surgery.
Planning officers said: “The application site has been vacant for several years, though the ground and basement floors were previously in commercial use as a café/coffee shop.
“The Council’s Conservation Officer has reviewed the scheme and is supportive, noting that the proposed use will bring the lower floors of the building back into active use, which is in the long term interests of maintaining the building fabric.
“The external works are limited in scope and sympathetic to the character and special interest of the heritage asset.”
