MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – Two unidentified men stole more than $2,100 in eye and ear drops and allergy medication at about 1 p.m. Nov. 1 from Walgreens, 7260 Pearl Road.
Walgreen managers said the men were members of a “booster crew” that was stealing eye and ear drops and allergy meds from several Walgreens stores in Greater Cleveland.
Booster crews sell products they steal to “fence” operations that then resell the products for a profit.
Walgreens on Pearl in Middleburg Heights reported the theft Nov. 20 after taking inventory and finding that several eye and ear drops and allergy meds were missing.
Security video from Nov. 1 showed two suspects entering the store. One of the men pointed to the aisle that contained eye drops and allergy meds, which are locked in a display case.
It’s unknown how the two men might have gained access to the locked display case because the store’s security video system didn’t show that particular aisle.
Security video did show the license-plate number of a Chrysler Pacifica in which the two men left the Walgreens parking lot. Police learned that the car had been rented from Hertz in Denver.
