A track has opened for cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders to enjoy.
A pump track is a continuous loop of mounds and banked turns, with the term pumping describing a way for cyclists to gain speed using the body’s up-and-down motion, without pedalling.
The new track was constructed in Bemerton Heath, Salisbury, after residents petitioned Wiltshire Council and the local authority agreed to provide £250,000 of funding for the project.
Leader of Wiltshire Council, Ian Thorn, said: “We’re thrilled to see the Bemerton Heath Pump Track open and ready for use. This is a brilliant new space for people to be active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.”
