Police have issued a major appeal for information

A man sadly died after a collision in the early hours of Sunday in Ardwick. Police said the man – 45 – is believed to have been crossing the road at the time.

A car travelling along Ardwick Green South in Ardwick hit the man. In a statement on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that despite the best efforts of emergency services, he died from his injuries.

The force has now issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward. The driver stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests made.

It’s understood the collision happened outside a block of flats facing Ardwick Green Park, near the Halfords store. Emergency services were called to the scene at just after midnight. Witnesses reported a large emergency services presence.

In a statement, GMP said: “Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Manchester this morning (7 December).

“Shortly after midnight, a car was travelling along Ardwick Green South when it collided with a pedestrian who is believed to have been crossing the road. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, died from his injuries.

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver remained at the scene and there have been no arrests.

“As officers work to establish the full circumstances of the incident, they are asking for anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to please get in touch.

“This also includes anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and witnessed any of the incident. No further details have been made available.
