The performance, at Dimbola Lodge in Freshwater, featured two sets of 60s and 70s music, including a set dedicated to music from the 1969 and 1970 Isle of Wight Festivals.

Big Red and The Cava Boys played an expansive catalogue of songs, featuring several guest appearances from Dick Taylor of the Pretty Things and The Rolling Stones, Jo Larcombe and Angelina Grimshaw.

The festival set began with three Jimi Hendrix songs, as Dick Taylor announced he had once given the late great rockstar ‘a lift’.

The set also featured songs by The Doors and Bob Dylan.

James Thorpe of Big Red and The Cava Boys said: “We were thrilled to be asked to perform at Dimbola, just a stone’s throw from where Jimi and many others stood in 1970.

“The fine people of Freshwater really turned out in force making it a night to remember!”

The event was a fundraiser for a dedicated room to Jimi Hendrix’s performance at Afton, his last official show in the UK before his death.
