EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has added an extra scene involving Eve Panesar-Unwin and Peter Beale into Monday’s (28 July) episode.

The scene, which wasn’t in the early BBC iPlayer release, sees the pair discuss England’s victory over Spain in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final on Sunday (27 July), which saw the Lionesses triumph in a penalty shoot-out and retain the title they won four years ago.

In the scene, Peter wanders around the market and asks Eve if she has seen Oscar, who is apparently “ducking a shift”. Eve, adorned in an England flag, replies: “Never mind that, did you see our Lionesses last night?”

“Yeah [I did]. My heart – I couldn’t take it. Seeing Beth Mead retake that penalty, I just thought, ‘Oh here we go again.'” responded Peter, with Eve adding: “Back-to-back Euros champs, Bealey boy! The first on foreign soil, we didn’t even need Wembley for the win.”

“Chloe Kelly, talk about a player stepping up,” added Peter, with Eve continuing: “[Alessia] Russo, [Michelle] Agyemang, [Lucy] Bronze – what a warrior. And Hannah bleedin’ Hampton, of course.”

“Leah Williamson, never mind an OBE, she wants knighting!,” said Peter, with Eve reasoning that the “whole team” would deserve such an honour. “Tomorrow I should change the menu – Hampton’s ham rolls. [Ella] Toone’s toasties. Bronze’s bacon baps.”

Peter, who applauded Eve’s puns, quipped: “Put me down for a [Georgia] Stanway steak bake”, with a laughing Eve concluding: “That’s good. That’s good. Football’s not coming home – it’s staying home!”

EastEnders wasn’t the only soap to reference the Lionesses’ victory, with ITV’s Emmerdale including a special scene in which Bob Hope and Mary Goskirk discussed the “brilliant” team who brought “football home”.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
