Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has confirmed that there will be four special festive episodes this month, each focusing on the Christmas Day of a different family in the village. The Hutchinsons, Maaliks, McQueens and Lomaxs all celebrate together, but each of their days takes a seriously dark turn…

Over the two weeks of Christmas and New Year, Hollyoaks will air on Monday and Tuesday, with a different family taking centre stage in each of the episodes.

But viewers also have the option to binge these episodes in one sitting. As has become tradition, the soap will again release the festive instalments as a boxset online in the days before Christmas.

There’s big drama for the likes of Mercedes, Diane, Donny and Ste – with secrets revealed, unexpected arrivals and Christmas wishes coming true.

What ties the festive episodes together is Jack and Pearl, who are determined to spread Christmas cheer throughout the village by delivering sacks of presents to the community during the day.

Jack and Pearl visit a different house in each episode, handing out gifts and passing on festive wishes to the various families. But Jack also has another special mission up his sleeve, and he wants to make the day perfect for Pearl.

Calling in a favour from the Hutchinsons, Jack arranges for a table to be set up for him and Pearl in The Dog, which is otherwise empty. However, their special moment is disrupted by a furious Ant.

The loved-up pair won’t let this get them down, though, and they later return to the Osborne house and have a dance to Frank Sinatra.

It turns out that Jack is planning to propose to Pearl, but things don’t quite go to plan. Darren pulls his dad to one side and asks him why he hasn’t popped the question yet, and it leaves Jack wondering whether it was a bad idea to propose on Christmas Day.

As Christmas comes to an end, Jack and Pearl enjoy the celebrations by watching the group of carolers perform in the village. Pearl uses this quiet moment to make an announcement of her own, and she has something she wants to get off her chest.

Will Christmas Day end with Jack and Pearl engaged, or will even more obstacles stand in their way?

These scenes will air on Monday, 22 December, Tuesday, 23 December, Monday, 29 December and Tuesday, 30 December.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
