After an eventful few days in Hong Kong, Liverpool have now travelled to Japan where they will face Wataru Endo‘s boyhood club, Yokohama F. Marinos.

While transfer speculation may be the topic filling column inches about Liverpool at the moment, the Reds themselves are fully focused on preparations for the new campaign.

Their fourth match of pre-season, the third in front of fans, sees them play against Yokohama FM at their home ground, the 72,000-capacity Nissan Stadium.

Who will be involved?

The notable absence in the Liverpool squad will be Luis Diaz, the Colombian having departed to finalise a £65.5 million move to Bayern Munich.

Alisson will not be available either having departed Tokyo to attend to a personal matter.

Joe Gomez has also left the touring squad, though his exit is down to an Achilles injury, which is being assessed in England.

Endo was forced to sit out Saturday’s defeat against AC Milan due to illness, but he is expected to be back for a special outing on home turf.

Arne Slot expects both Endo and Darwin Nunez, who also missed the match in Hong Kong, to be available against Yokohama.

Meanwhile, Alexis Mac Allister is back in full training, but it remains to be seen whether he will play a part at the Nissan Stadium.

Liverpool’s squad:

Goalkeepers: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Pecsi, Misciur

Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Bradley, Frimpong, Kerkez, Robertson, Tsimikas, Stephenson

Midfielders: Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Endo, Nyoni, Morton, Elliott

Forwards: Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, Nunez, Ekitike, Doak, Ngumoha

Liverpool are the away side for this one, as Yokohama FM host the Reds at their home ground, the International Stadium Yokohama, known as the Nissan Stadium for sponsorship reasons.

Tickets for the match are sold out, and though it is Yokohama’s home fixture, expect to see plenty of the crowd in Liverpool shirts.

Don’t forget, the players will still be wearing their Nike kits for this game as the new deal with Adidas does not begin until August 1.

As captain of the Japan national team, it must be with incredible pride that Endo travels back to his nation as part of a Premier League-winning side.

Arriving from Hong Kong, Endo was among a group of players to recreate a famous photograph of The Beatles landing in Tokyo almost 60 years ago.

Not only is Endo returning to his own country, but this is also a trip back to home turf, Yokohama FM being where childhood hero Shunsuke Nakamura played.

While Endo never played for Yokohama, he grew up in the area and will receive a brilliant welcome from the locals.
