George Groves has been discussing how his old rival Carl Froch might get on in a fight with Jake Paul.

Froch is a former super middleweight world champion who retired after knocking Groves out in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium back in 2014, a few months after winning their controversial first fight in what many believe was too an early stoppage.

Since then, he has remained a vocal pundit who is not afraid to offer cutting views on current and former fighters. Paul, a 28-year-old boxer with 12 fights on his record and just one loss to Tommy Fury, is someone he has always given short shrift, and also someone he has spoken about making a comeback for.

Speaking to Fight JOE, Groves assessed how the fight would go if the two were to meet sometime soon, and he foresaw a win for Paul, who is chasing a legitimate world title.

“Jake Paul beats him every day of the week, stops him. Froch is old, finished. I watched him on the bag it was horrendous. He was slow as f**k. He’s trying to lure Jake Paul in. That’s the only thing I can think. He’s showing this mediocre work to lure Jake Paul in.

“Carl has such a presence now, his channel is flying, he’s got status, Hall of Fame, and tells people he’s in shape so he might actually get a Jake Paul fight. Jake if he’s not out in the graveyard digging up dead bodies, the next best thing would be Froch wouldn’t it.

“I hope Froch wins for us ex-pros but I don’t think he will, I think Paul beats him. Too fast, too big, too nippy. Plus he’ll get in his head won’t he. I got in Froch’s head. It’s not the hardest thing in the world. Jake Paul 100% is king of the mind games, he’s going to drive him f**king nuts, he’ll ruin him. I hope it doesn’t happen, I don’t think Froch needs it, but if it does happen I’ll be supporting him.”

Paul has fought and beaten the likes of Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in underwhelming affairs but has recently been calling out former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua – a fight Froch says ends in a dangerous ‘AJ’ stoppage.
