Specifically, the company has determined that a small volume of Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL units could suffer or are already suffering from display-related defects. The same goes for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold too, which is covered by a separate extended warranty programme. In support posts, Google clarifies that these programmes cover devices exhibiting a full-length vertical line spanning their displays.
Moreover, other units that occasionally flicker could be covered as well. Google also clarifies that not all units sold are affected though, and warns that all devices sent in will undergo an eligibility inspection. Unsurprisingly, physical damage like cracked displays or liquid intrusion will disqualify a device from receiving a free repair. Both extended warranty programmes will last up to three years from the original retail purchase date of the last Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Please see Google’s support pages for more details.
