SBU NKOSI — THE KING WHO SLIPPED FROM HIS THRONE
Sbu Nkosi — whose surname fittingly means “King” — was one of the Springboks’ most dangerous wide men between 2018 and 2019.
Powerful, explosive, and clinical, he scored 11 tries in 16 Tests and looked set for a decade-long Bok career.
But off-field struggles and extended absences from professional rugby disrupted his progress. Then, in 2024, he received a three-year suspension after a doping violation confirmed by rugby authorities, ruling him out until 2027.
By his return year, Nkosi will be 32 — competing against a wing crop that is younger, faster, and deeply entrenched.
