Lisa Faulkner has shared details about a new venture she “hasn’t done for a long time”, confessing that the fresh move has been a “big challenge”.

The 53 year old actress is set to make a comeback to the stage after 23 years, starring in the theatrical rendition of Single White Female alongside former Strictly Come Dancing participant Kym Marsh.

Prior to the UK tour, Lisa made an appearance on Wednesday’s (December 10) episode of BBC Breakfast with presenters Jon Kay and Sarah Campball, where she discussed her latest career shift, reports the Express.

Sarah noted: “It’s exciting and a little bit nerve racking because it is massively different isn’t it because we all know you from telly but not stage. How long has it been since you were last on stage?”

Lisa disclosed: “It was 23 years ago. It is a bit different because when you’re doing TV and you’re acting, you get to do a little bit of research on your character and you learn your lines.

“Then they put you where they want you and they tell you a few things you have to do and you just do it. You also get to have another take but this is beginning to end live, with a lot of lines.”

In a frank admission, she said: “You know what I love the fact that I am 53 and I’m going to do something that I haven’t done in so long. It’s such a big challenge but really exciting and I love acting and it just makes my heart beat.”

Jon interjected: “Is that why you wanted to push yourself out of your comfort zone.”

Lisa responded: “Yes. When I read the script, I was thinking maybe I want to do some theatre, I put it out there into the universe so when the script came I read it and thought this is brilliant and I would really like to do it.

“I thought I would really love to go and see it in the theatre and that to me is a really good indication – if you want to see it or want to watch it then I’m in.”

The production is an adaptation of the 1992 Columbia Pictures film and the novel by John Lutz. Lisa and her co-star Kym Marsh will take the lead roles as Hedy and Allie on the tour.

Joining them are Andro as Graham, Jonny McGarrity as Sam and Amy Snudden as Bella. The understudies include Francesca McBride, Patrick McHugh and Anna Ruben.

The play has been adapted by Rebecca Reid and will premiere at the Theatre Royal Brighton on 9 January 2026 before embarking on a tour until June. Tickets are currently available for purchase.

Previously discussing her return to the stage, Lisa expressed: “I’m delighted to be returning to the stage playing opposite the utterly fantastic Kym Marsh.

“I got chills watching Single White Female in the cinema back in 1992 so it’s a real thrill to be part of this bold new production. I cannot wait to bring this fascinating story to life and keep audiences around the UK on the edge of their seats!”

BBC Breakfast is broadcast every day from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
