The Polish broadcaster TVP has confirmed that it has no plans to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

Following reports in the Polish media that TVP could withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria, they have confirmed they will be competing next May. In a statement, the broadcaster explained:

“We are aware of the scale of tension surrounding the upcoming edition. We understand the emotions and concerns. However, we believe that Eurovision still has a chance to once again become a space filled with music. And only music. We, like the overwhelming majority of EBU members, offer this opportunity,”

The confirmation comes on the deadline day for broadcasters to confirm to the European Broadcasting Union whether they will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

The Polish national final for Eurovision 2026 will take place on February 14. Public voting alone will decide the winner. In the case of a tie or a technical fault, a back-up jury decides the winner. The winner will represent Poland in Vienna.

Justyna Steczkowska represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Gaja”. Poland finished 14th in the final scoring 156 points. Poland ranked 7th in the public vote, with 139 points and 12 points from the Irish and Icelandic public.

Poland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside a number of other Eastern European countries. Their debut year saw their best result to date in the contest, as Edyta Górniak finished in 2nd place with her song “To nie ja!”. Following this, Poland failed to repeat this initial success, only managing to achieve a top 10 finish on two other occasions since their debut. Since their return in 2014, they have been considerably more successful in the contest, having qualified for the final 7 times out of 11 attempts.
