EastEnders has seen Sam Mitchell make her next move in her vile plan to extort money from Nigel Bates. Sam recently made a dramatic return to Walford, sneaking into her brother Phil’s house to steal money from his safe. Nigel caught her red-handed, but mistook her for his daughter Clare so didn’t rat her out to Phil.
In new scenes, Sam realised she could take advantage of Nigel’s memory problems. Diagnosed with early onset dementia, Nigel continued to believe Sam was Clare and offered to help her with her financial troubles.
After Phil asked Sam to accompany Nigel to Lexi’s video shoot, she set her cruel scheme in motion.
Sam texted Denise Fox, who had agreed to give her money if she went to the doctor to check the lump in her breast.
“Change of plan,” Sam wrote. “Don’t need your money.”

Speaking with Nigel at the café, Sam said: “I thought we could pick up a nice present for Julie on the way. Don’t worry. We’ll be back in time for filming.”
A confused Nigel fell for her trick. “We’ve got to go to the bank before it closes,” he agreed.
Later on, Denise alerted the rest of the Mitchell clan when Sam failed to show up to her doctor’s appointment. Julie went to look for her husband and Sam, but couldn’t find them anywhere.

Jack Branning then revealed that Sam hadn’t even scheduled the appointment with the doctor.
Meanwhile, Sam seemed to have a change of heart as she and Nigel were on their way to the bank. She urged him to go back, but Nigel insisted he wanted to support “Clare” and her son.
Kathy Beale then called in at Phil’s, explaining she’d overheard Sam’s mischievous plan.

Not long after, Sam and Nigel returned to the Square. “Thank you for stepping up. It means a lot to my boy,” Sam told Nigel after the trip to the bank.
“Least I can do, after all those lost years,” he replied, just as Sam spotted Phil and Julie.
Her attempt to escape didn’t work though, as Phil and Julie caught up with them and demanded an explanation.

“I took Clare to the bank to transfer all the money,” Nigel explained as Sam looked sheepish.
As Phil was speechless, Sam’s son Ricky joined them with a disappointed look on his face.
How will Sam get out of this one?
