A former Bradford Bulls, Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils player has announced his retirement from the game, following a 20-year career.

Super League stalwart, Adam Sidlow, will hang up the boots after two decades, as he bows out of the game with over 300 appearances in the professional game.

Making his debut in 2006 with Widnes Vikings, he would move to Workington Town in 2007, before switching to the then-Salford City Reds, where he made his name.

He would stay at Salford for five years, playing a total of 98 matches in his first stint at the club.

Joining Bradford in 2013, he was part of the last Bradford Bulls squad to play in Super League, and he stayed with the club for two further seasons following their top flight exit.

Sidlow moved to the newly-formed Toronto Wolfpack in 2017 and was a mainstay in the Canadian side until their withdrawal from the competition in 2020.

He would join Leigh in 2021, as they took the place of the Wolfpack in Super League, and was also a member of their dominant Championship squad the following year, where he made 29 appearances in all competitions.

Re-joining Salford in 2023, he would go on to make 14 more appearances under Paul Rowley across two years, with a loan move to Oldham coming in his second season.

In 2025, he featured for Swinton Lions in League One, and played 19 times under former Warrington prop Paul Wood, as they finished third in the third tier.

Now 38, Sidlow announced his retirement via LinkedIn, confirming his body could no longer handle the toll of another season.

He said:

“*Emotional post incoming.*”

“Over the past few days I’ve come to the decision that preseason 20+ is 1 too many. In my head and heart I can, but my body says “NO”!”

“Rugby league has been my life since I was 7 years old, it’s given me the tools and life skills to be a team mate, friend, husband and father.”

“There are so many people to thank but it would go on for days. I have to mention my mum Vivien Sidlow and dad Peter Sidlow for taking me to training and to games all over the country whilst growing up for amateur, town, Lancashire and school teams. The grind helped me become the man I am today ❤️.”

“Thanks to my children Ethan, Payton and Corey for the time that was sacrificed whilst they was growing up and times that I had to leave them (I’ll catch it up) ❤️.”

“To my Stunning wife Kerryanne Sidlow that has propped me up for 21 years. I always wanted to play rugby professionally, but a family was my main goal in life. She has made it possible to have both dreams a reality whilst raising 3 babies and working (behind every man is a stronger woman) ❤️.”

“Thanks to Widnes Vikings, Workington Town RLFC, Salford Red Devils Rugby League Club, Bradford Bulls RLFC, Toronto Wolfpack Rugby League, Leigh Leopards RLFC, Oldham RLFC and Swinton Lions RLFC for the ride it’s been mind blowing. On to the next chapter.”
