On Thursday, December 11, Cumbrians woke up to the ‘amazing’ sunrise which painted the county’s sky in fiery colours.
The sunrise was captured by photographers from across the county, including members of the News & Star’s Camera Club who commented on the sky’s rich colours.

One Carlisle resident even compared the sunrise to something seen in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.
Sarah Bragg, who captured the sunrise over Wigton said: “Amazing sunrise over Wigton this morning.”

Carlisle’s John Tyson said: “Not the most picturesque of photos, but wow what a sky.”

Another Carlisle resident who took pictures of the sunrise added: “It looked like the Upside Down from Stranger Things.”
