In a perfect world, Newcastle United would wear black and white against Sunderland on Sunday.
The Tyne-Wear derby should always be black and white versus red and white, but that is not always the case.
Newcastle United have worn their away colours quite regularly at the Stadium of Light, and it looks like that could be the case again when Eddie Howe takes his team to Wearside.
It doesn’t look like we’re wearing black and white on Sunday – how do you feel about that?⚫⚪
At least it’s not the green kit, think of it like that!

Newcastle United not expected to wear black and white against Sunderland
Ahead of Sunderland vs Newcastle United on Sunday, the Magpies have shared a social media post previewing the game.
That is normally a strong indication of what kit Newcastle United will be wearing, and it is bad news for supporters hoping to see those famous black and white stripes.

Newcastle’s social media post sees Jacob Ramsey donning the club’s navy and orange third kit, which would suggest that is the one they will be wearing against Sunderland.
That will concern superstitious fans, as Newcastle have not won any of the three games they have played when wearing that kit this season. It was worn during the 0-0 draw with Leeds United, followed by defeats to Brentford and Marseille.
Who remembers what Gordon said to Trai Hume after this incident in the last derby?😂
Gordon was well up for the fight last time out at the Stadium of Light!

The last time Newcastle United wore their away kit to face Sunderland
The last time Newcastle United wore an away kit against Sunderland was October 2015.
Steve McClaren was the Newcastle United manager at the Stadium of Light that day, with his side donning a navy blue shirt with a pink and white sash. They were beaten 3-0, with the game turning when Fabricio Coloccini was given a red card.
When Howe took his side to Sunderland in January 2024 for an FA Cup third round tie, they were able to wear black and white. However, there was a slight change as they donned white shorts as opposed to black.
It would appear that Newcastle will be all in navy blue on this occasion, much to the frustration of the purists.
