Newcastle United have been linked with a move for a Brazilian midfielder
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Allan from SE Palmeiras.
Newcastle United have reportedly informed Brazilian side Palmeiras that it will be extremely challenging to complete a deal for young midfielder Allan Elias due to their asking price.
Earlier this month, ESPN Brazil claimed Eddie Howe’s side were among those interested in a move for the 21-year-old midfielder, with the Brazilian club looking to raise funds for their 2026 campaign.
The Magpies reportedly sought an “immediate transfer agreement” for the upcoming star, but his release clause is said to be worth £87million.
There’s no way Newcastle would part with that sort of money for a player with no European top-flight experience and less than one season in senior football.
However, Palmeiras reportedly turned down a £17m bid for the star from Zenit. Nevertheless, a new report from ESPN Brazil claims the Magpies have informed the Brazilian outfit that they won’t be making an approach due to their asking price.
They add that the Brazilian side is holding out for offers in the region of €45m (£39.5m). A source told the outlet that while Newcastle accepts there has been an increase in the value of players coming through Palmeiras’ academy, they won’t be doing a deal at that price.
Chelsea star Willian Estevao, Real Madrid youngster Endrick, Man City’s Vitor Reis, and West Ham United’s Luis Guilherme are just some of the promising young talents to come through their ranks in recent years.
The Brazilian side sold the quartet for an estimated £150m, and have a growing reputation for unearthing young stars.
Allan has played 56 games, scoring three times and setting up eight for his teammates, including an impressive display in Palmeiras’ comeback.
Newcastle United have been linked with a transfer swoop for Palmeiras midfielder Allan.
He starred against LDU in the CONMEBOL Libertadores semi-final and was one of the key players in the 4-0 victory at Allianz Parque.
The Magpies will have money to spend in the January transfer market and Howe will be hoping he can strengthen his squad to continue competing on four fronts.
Newcastle are still in the Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup, while challenging for a European spot in the Premier League.
They spent big in the summer, bringing in the likes of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade to counteract Alexander Isak’s departure for Liverpool, while, Malick Thiaw, Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale also signed on the dotted line.
Newcastle have been linked with a number of January signings, with AZ Alkmaar’s young midfielder Kees Smit a potential target.
