The council has warned that bin collections will be different for residents whose normal collection day falls on a bank holiday.

Here are the bin collection changes to take note of:

Bins due on Christmas Day (December 25):

Blue bins will be collected on Monday, December 29

Grey bins will be collected on Tuesday, December 30

Brown bins will be collected on Wednesday, December 31

Green bins and food caddies will be collected on Thursday, December 18 and Saturday, January 3

Bins due on Boxing Day (26 December):

Blue, grey and brown bins will be collected on Saturday, December 20

Green bins and food caddies will be collected as normal on Friday, December 19, and Friday, January 2

Bins due Monday, December 29 to Wednesday, December 31:

Blue, grey, brown bins will be collected as normal

Green bin and food caddy one week earlier from December 22-24 and one week later from January 5-7.

Bins due on New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1):

All bins will be collected on Saturday, January 3.

Recycling centres

Household waste can also be disposed of at the recycling centre on Arkwright Street in Oldham.

It is open from 8am to 6pm daily, apart from Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when it will closed.

Alternative recycling centres are also located on Bayley Street in Stalybridge and Chichester Street in Rochdale.

The Reliance Street recycling centre in Newton Heath is currently closed for improvement works.

Christmas trees can also be disposed of at recycling centres. The council recommends that you chop it up before disposing of it.
