After months of rumors, Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer are officially getting a divorce. The comedian announced their separation on December 12 by posting a photo of the couple sitting in a subway car on Instagram. “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she wrote, adding that they will focus on raising their 6-year-old son, Gene David.
Schumer continued her post, writing, “blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag [a] basket and not because he’s a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.” She ended the announcement by writing, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
Some of Schumer’s famous friends offered their support in the comments. Gayle King wrote, “Amy been there never easy … only YOU could make THIS announcement w/humor & love …. Wishing you BOTH the very best.” Sophia Bush also commented, writing, “It’s so damn hard without having it be hard for the world to see … so when the world sees I’ll just say be extra gentle with yourself. All love.”
Rumors of the couple’s divorce have been making the rounds since October, when Schumer wiped her Instagram feed clean and deleted all of her photos — including images of Fischer. Last week, a source told “Page Six” that Schumer and Fischer have been having issues “for ages” and that they were coming up with “a conscious uncoupling plan.” Looks like they’ve worked it out.
