The Spurs kid is refusing to rule out an extension but says he has much to do to prove he deserves it

Mikey Moore isn’t ruling out an extension to his Ibrox loan – but admits he’ll have to prove he’s worth another year at Rangers first.

The Spurs kid was persuaded to make a 12-month switch to Glasgow by Russell Martin last summer but struggled as the former Southampton gaffer’s chaotic reign imploded inside 122 days.

The arrival of Danny Rohl, however, had led to a dramatic upturn in the 18-year-old’s fortunes and there have already been early calls from the Ibrox faithful for the terms of his loan to be pushed on into next season.

England Under-19 international Moore isn’t counting out the possibility but he knows he’ll have to maintain his current form if he’s to be welcomed back.

Moore said: “I think for me now, it’s not down to me. I’ve got six or seven months left and I’ve got lots to prove until then.

“I could go off and start playing terribly and the fans don’t like me anymore so they might not want me next year!

“I need to keep showing what I can do and we’ll see what happens in the summer really.”

Moore has more pressing matters to be contending with in the meantime, primarily tomorrow night’s (Monday’s) Premiership showdown with Hibs.

Rohl and his players are hoping to build on last week’s 3-0 win over Kilmarnock, which saw Moore score once and have another goal chalked off as he made his return from a month out injured.

But they will have to shake off the disappointment of seeing their faint Europa League hopes crumble in Budapest on Thursday night.

The 2-1 defeat to Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros side was their fifth from six games, leaving the Ibrox side sitting on just one point from the 18 available so far.

Mikey Moore of Rangers celebrates

Moore said: “Obviously, we’re disappointed about the Europa League and it’s not good enough for any of us really, not good enough for me either.

“But in the league we need to keep winning games and I think that’s part of what we need to focus on and we need to just keep picking up points because there’s an opportunity for us there.

“We want to do something and we want to keep going and play for something and try and win something this year.”

Gers sit TWELVE points behind leaders Hearts but, crucially, have TWO games in hand on the Jambos, starting with their Hibs clash.

And Moore is ready to fight Derek McInnes’ men all the way after helping Rohl run up a seven-game unbeaten run in the league.

He said: “Ever since the gaffer’s come in, we’ve kept picking up points, we haven’t lost and we’ve got good momentum at the minute.

“So, there’s some big games coming up that we need to win just to give ourselves a very, very good chance.

“And I believe that we’ll keep going and we’ll keep going.”
