AVROTROS has confirmed that Cornald Maas will not be commenting on the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026.
Speaking to the ANP, AVROTROS has confirmed that Cornald Maas will not be commentating on the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 for Dutch TV viewers. Cornald Maas has commentated on the Eurovision Song Contest for the Netherlands between 2004 and 2010, and 2014 to date.
AVROTROS has determined that it would not be appropriate for Cornald to commentate on the competition in 2026, as he is associated with the broadcaster which has withdrawn from the 2026 contest due to objections to Israel’s participation in the contest. They have however, clarified that Cornald will commentate again in 2027 should AVROTROS return to the contest.
As a result, this means that NTR and NOS will need to select a new commentator for Dutch coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026.
