Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on E4 and stream on the Channel 4 app.

Hollyoaks has finally revealed who the person threatening Frankie Osborne is after a week of receiving messages from someone pretending to be her recently-deceased twin JJ, who did vile things to her before he was sent to prison. In tonight’s instalment, Darren and the family prepared to scatter JJ’s ashes. But they discovered that the urn had been stolen after someone had broken in.

At Casa McQueen’s, Dodger Savage told Frankie the police would investigate the break-in, but Frankie said not to bother and she had her suspicions about that and the threatening messages.

She name-dropped Sully, who Dodger himself recently warned her not to get too attached to, and he asked if she had any concrete information he could use against the untrustworthy fellow officer.

Frankie then met Sully for drinks in The Loft and after flattering him with compliments, she showed him the latest letter she got from her tormentor.

She mentioned her chat with Dodger and Sully got annoyed that people think it might be him sending them.

“Frankie, all I’ve ever done is try to take this away from you!” he said, raising his voice. She played off like she had been confused, but now understands that Sully had proven he cares by killing JJ for her.

“I want you to tell me that you meant for that to happen, didn’t you? For JJ to die,” she whispered to him, but he didn’t give her an answer.

Instead he tried to take their relationship to the next level by inviting her home for sex, although she made the excuse that she had to go help Darren — her smile vanishing as soon as she turned her back to him.

As she left, she met Dodger again and it was revealed that she had been wearing a wire, with him listening in to her chat with Sully.

He told her it was too risky to carry on like this, but Frankie was insistent: “This is my idea, Dodger. And I’m gonna nail him with or without your help.”

Frankie added that it wasn’t about getting justice for JJ, but about stopping “bad men who bad things and just walk away like they never did”.

Dodger reluctantly agreed, having suffered similar trauma at the hands of Sully and his associate Griff. But Dodger said that they had to take things slow, lure him in, and use the safe word ‘mistletoe’ if things got out of hand.

As the episode ended, viewers saw JJ’s ashes being scattered on mum Suzanne Ashworth’s grave… by Dee Dee Hutchinson.

“Back with your mum now, my love,” she said mournfully.

So it looks like Dee Dee is the one tormenting Frankie because she had a thing for JJ. But how will far she go, and will she ruin Frankie and Dodger’s plan to catch Sully out?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
