Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey has responded to her Emmerdale crossover moment that fans have already been talking about having made the ‘random’ observation in the epic one-off episode’s latest trailer.

As fans of both ITV soaps know, the standalone episode, titled Corriedale, will see the two worlds collide – and one night changes everything as a multi-vehicle pile-up will be at the centre of the drama, having major repercussions and linking the soaps together forever.

It’s now been confirmed that Corriedale, which marks the start of the network’s new ‘soap power hour’, will air on Monday, January 5, at 8pm, which will officially launch a new daily broadcast pattern for both flagship soaps. But in a change for one day only, the episode won’t be available to watch early, creating a huge TV moment on the night.

An explosive trailer previously revealed the aftermath of the crash on a dark and stormy country road near the village of Hotten. Desperate voices call for help in the darkness as the emergency services arrive. Fans of both soaps will recognise them as David Platt, Tracy Barlow, Liam Cavanagh, and Aaron Dingle.

It comes after it was announced that Emmerdale’s Aaron and Corrie’s DS Lisa Swain, played by Danny Miller and Vicky Myers, would be among the iconic characters starring in the special episode, which has been promised to feature explosive scenes, nail-biting drama and never-before-seen interactions between some of the nation’s most loved soap characters.

Meanwhile, a new atmospheric promo released ahead of the Corriedale premiere, which saw the casts of both soaps were brought together to celebrate the huge milestone with a special screening at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Monday (December 15) revealed which other characters confirmed as being amongst the residents of Weatherfield and Emmerdale caught up in the drama.

They are Corrie’s Kit Green, James Bailey, Asha Alahan, Carla Connor and Shona Platt whilst Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle, Sarah Sugden, Charity Dingle, Jacob Gallagher, Robert Sugden and Joe Tate are also involved.

Corrie’s Asha and Emmerdale’s Cain come face-to-face in the crossover

In the trailer, it appears Asha is sprung into action, despite the trainee paramedic taking a step back from the profession due to her own mental health crisis. In a small clip, Asha is seen rushing to someone’s aid, when Emmerdale’s Cain asks: “Who are you?”

Teasing what’s head, Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha, told the Manchester Evening News at the Corriedale premiere: “Personally, all I can say is, we’ve seen Asha go through a bit of a struggle recently and in this episode, we see a little bit of her twig into realising that she’s good enough to be doing a certain something…”

Speaking about the moment Asha and Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, come face-to-face, she joked of their dialogue: “That wasn’t actually scripted…” She added: “No, I was the most excited to meet Jeff. All the people at work know him really well, but I’ve grown up thinking, ‘I just want to meet Cain Dingle!’ So I was so excited to work with him, it was unbelievable.”

And as mentioned, Corrie fans have already been discussing the moment on social media. @Swain__Connor said: “Asha Alahan and Cain Dingle together is like fries and milkshake. You never knew you needed them together until you did.” @TVMusings22 commented: “The absolute randomness of Cain and Asha being in a scene is sending me. ‘Who are you’.”

@dalescomfort wrote: “asha and cain arguably the craziest crossover to date who had that on the bingo card like.” @melikeydrwho added: “Asha and Cain wasn’t an interaction I was expecting but it was still exciting nonetheless.”
