Worcestershire have signed South African all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel on a red-ball contract for 2026.

The 27-year-old will be available for the whole of the Pears’ County Championship campaign next summer as they return to Division Two after relegation ended a two-season stay in the top flight.

It will be Swanepoel’s second stint in England, after a spell with Kent in 2024 when he made 16 appearances across all three formats.

Swanepoel has scored nearly 1,500 runs in first-class cricket, with one century, and taken 182 wickets in 47 games.

He has scored more than 1,000 runs and taken 130 wickets in 98 white-ball matches.

“We are always looking to add to the quality within the group and by bringing in someone with the red-ball experience that Beyers possesses, we feel as though we have done just that,” Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson said.

Swanepoel said the prospect of a potential promotion campaign at New Road next season was “an exciting prospect”.

“I have always enjoyed my time playing in England, and particularly the longer format of the game, so to be offered the opportunity to continue my red-ball journey at Worcestershire was one I was very keen on exploring,” he added.

Swanepoel is the Pears’ second overseas recruit for 2026, after they signed Australia white-ball seamer Ben Dwarshuis for a third spell at the club.
