Over a decade after he retired from the pro peloton, Andy Schleck is heading back to the organization where he spent the last several years of his career. Lidl-Trek, the latest iteration of the team founded as Leopard-Trek in 2011, announced on Thursday that the Luxembourger is coming aboard as “deputy general manager.”

“He has lived the pressure of Grand Tours, worn the yellow jersey, and led teams through the biggest moments in the sport,” said Lidl-Trek general manager Luca Guercilena of his new deputy. “That experience is invaluable for our riders and our staff. Beyond his sporting achievements, Andy brings a broad perspective from the business side of cycling and from developing teams and events.”

In joining the team he is also rejoining his older brother and former teammate Fränk Schleck, who was recently announced as a new sports director for the Lidl-Trek women’s squad. Both riders raced for Leopard-Trek during their careers, joining the team for its inaugural season in 2011, the year after the Tour de France that Andy Schleck was later retroactively awarded following Alberto Contador’s ban.

In their first season at Leopard Trek, the brothers climbed onto the Tour podium together. Fränk Schleck tested positive for a banned diuretic at the Tour the following season and received a one-year suspension, returning to racing with the team in 2014.

Andy Schleck retired at the end of that year, while Fränk rode on with the team until 2016.
